Leave room for the first assessment
It is tempting to put a dental visit on the last day, after seeing relatives. That leaves little flexibility if an examination shows that another appointment is needed. Tell the clinic which days you will actually be in San Miguel, including the time you need to get back to the airport.
A useful first message is: “I will be in San Miguel from X to Y. A dentist has recommended a root canal, and I return to work on Z.” Those details help us discuss available appointments. Your visit is confirmed only when you and the clinic agree on the date and time.
Match the trip to the stages of care
Assessment, a procedure, the final restoration and a review may take place at separate appointments. Root canal treatment and a crown are different stages. Laboratory work or referral may introduce another schedule. We cannot promise that both procedures will be completed within a particular week.
Before committing to arrangements that are difficult to change, ask what can be evaluated during the visit and what depends on the examination. The ADA advises considering follow-up when planning dental treatment abroad. Decide who could provide care after you return home.
Check the actual appointment and route
Endodontics El Salvador’s usual hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to noon. The clinic is closed on Sundays. Confirm availability for your specific dates. This guide does not confirm holiday opening, laboratory hours or schedule changes connected to November events.
The address is 15 Avenida Norte y 12a Calle Poniente, Colonia Hirleman, San Miguel. If you are staying with relatives elsewhere in eastern El Salvador, allow for travel to the clinic and arrange company if needed. Do not assume that a short distance guarantees a fixed journey time.
Allow for the evaluation and the indicated treatment
An evaluation with a digital periapical X-ray costs $35. It is separate from treatment and is not credited toward the treatment fee. Initial root canal treatment costs $390 per tooth, including a second appointment if needed. Medication and restoration are separate. An indicated crown costs $300 in zirconia or $450 in lithium disilicate; retreatment is quoted individually.
Keep travel expenses and possible follow-up costs separate when comparing estimates. If you have US dental insurance, ask your insurer about care outside the country and the documents it requires. We cannot promise reimbursement or that treatment savings will cover flights and accommodation.
Do not postpone urgent symptoms until the trip
Seek prompt care where you are if you have severe pain or swelling. Difficulty breathing or swallowing, or swelling around the eye, requires emergency medical attention. The NHS describes these as warning signs associated with dental abscesses. Waiting for travel or a chat reply is not appropriate.
